The Mountain Lion Foundation was founded in 1986 and is a national 501c3 non-profit organization headquartered in Sacramento, CA. The mission of the Foundation is to ensure that America’s lion survives and flourishes in the wild. The Mountain Lion Foundation has a vision of a world where lions and people coexist, where sustainability includes the persistence of the human ecosystem in harmony with viable wildlife communities, and where wildlands are nurtured and not subdued. We ensure the continuance of these native cats and the wild places they rely on for survival by fostering co-existence and informing policymakers. With a focus on education, advocacy, public outreach, and emphasizing the importance of sound science, we work with communities to preserve this keystone species.
