Moms Against Poverty (MAP) is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to nurturing and empowering impoverished children worldwide. Through programs in Education, Health Care & Wellness, Hunger Relief & Basic Provisions, Orphan Care, and Disaster Relief, we address critical needs and provide opportunities for children to thrive. With projects in regions such as the United States, Iran, and Senegal, MAP transforms lives by offering support, hope, and a pathway to a brighter future.
Company History
MAP’s Principal Founder & CEO, Delfarib Fanaie, had a poignant encounter with a young girl named Sepideh in 2006 at an orphanage in Tehran, Iran, when adopting her third child. She had already witnessed first-hand the needs of many orphaned children during the adoption of her two children earlier. Sepideh had asked Delfarib, “why can’t you take me with you?” Stirred by this experience, with no way to respond to this sweet girl, Delfarib knew her life would never be the same. She became determined to inspire friends, family, and co-workers to help impoverished children, leading to the establishment of Moms Against Poverty (MAP) in 2008—a grassroots, volunteer-based nonprofit organization committed to alleviating poverty's devastating effects on children.
Seventeen years later, MAP has grown into a globally recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit, delivering impactful programs in 18 countries. MAP’s mission to serve impoverished children worldwide is realized through initiatives in education, health care and wellness, hunger relief and basic provisions, and orphan care. To date, MAP’s programs have directly benefited over 3 million children and families thus far.
Notable Accomplishments / Recognition
In 2022, Delfarib was awarded the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Award for Outstanding Public Service Benefiting Local Communities.
