Company Profile
Livermore Lab Foundation
Company Overview
The Livermore Lab Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing scientific research and inspiring the next generation of scientists and engineers to help ‘open the door’ to a better future for all. To achieve its mission, LLF seeks philanthropic support for research initiatives and STEM education programs in partnership with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL).
Company History
In 2015, senior leaders from LLNL and the University of California met to discuss the opportunities associated with private philanthropic support, as well as the establishment of a 501(c)(3) independent foundation. Based on best practices at other foundations associated with Department of Energy laboratories, they created a defining mission, vision and conceptual framework. It identified how LLNL’s ground-breaking science, research and solutions for some of the world’s most pressing issues could be of interest to philanthropists and private foundations. The vision was strongly supported by then UC President Janet Napolitano and Livermore Lab Director Bill Goldstein, setting the stage for the official incorporation of the Livermore Lab Foundation in 2016 as an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization (EIN#81-2567763).
