For the last 35 years, Ignited has connected more than 3,700 teachers to one-of-a-kind, paid professional development opportunities at hundreds of companies and universities across the Bay Area. Teams work together on real projects. Companies get the benefit of unique development experiences for their top talent, key teams and overall employee base. University researchers help grow the next generation of STEM talent. And, teachers work on summer projects at companies and universities to build a greater understanding of core skills and cool technologies.
Company History
Ignited was founded in 1985 by 13 Silicon Valley CEOs and UC Berkeley to focus on teachers and their critical role in improving STEM education. Originally named Industry Initiatives for Science and Math Education (IISME), the founding team created teacher experiences to transform how they see companies, understand STEM in the workplace and teach these critical skills.
