In an effort to ameliorate the challenges California nonprofits were facing in obtaining insurance in the 1980’s, Meredith Clark and several partners founded CIS as a wholly owned, for-profit subsidiary of CalNonprofits (http://calnonprofits.org). CIS instantly received local support and continues to stand ready to fulfill its mission of providing quality insurance products, excellent customer services and insurance education tailored to meet the needs of California nonprofits.
