Description
We’re seeking a detail-oriented and mission-driven individual to serve as our Treasurer. This volunteer will oversee the financial health of our organization, ensuring transparency, compliance, and strategic stewardship of our resources. You’ll be a member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors and will work with program delivery partners to enable our mission through sound financial practices.
Requirements
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with nonprofit financial regulations and reporting, implementing best practices for sound financial governance
- Oversee budgeting and forecasting in collaboration with leadership and program delivery partners
- In coordination with contracted CPA and bookkeeper:
- Maintain accurate financial records
- Manage bank accounts, reconcile statements, and track income/expenses to ensure they are in accordance with the approved annual budget and grant requirements
- Prepare financial reports for the Board on a monthly and annual basis or at other times as requested by the Board
- File annual tax documents (e.g., IRS Form 990)
- Assist with grant tracking, donor contributions, and fundraising accounting
- Ensures long term archival needs of HFR financial information
- Attend quarterly board meetings (virtual or in-person)
Qualifications
- Experience in business accounting, finance, or nonprofit financial management
- Understanding of nonprofit governance, compliance and reporting requirements
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and communicate clearly
- Passion for youth development, STEM, or education is a plus!
