- Resource Development Manager
Description
The Resource Development Manager (RDM) is a key leadership role responsible for executing grant administration, supporting institutional fundraising strategies, and supervising the Data & Reporting Coordinator. As a central member of the Resource Development team, the RDM will manage the grant lifecycle, including prospecting, proposal development, reporting, and funder stewardship, to grow SOMOS’s revenue and deepen community investment in our mission.
This role is ideal for a collaborative and detail-oriented fundraiser who is passionate about grassroots power-building and place-based equity. The RDM plays a vital role in sustaining SOMOS Mayfair’s mission by securing and managing resources that fuel the dreams, power, and leadership of the community.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications and Qualities
- Commitment to Social Justice: A demonstrated commitment to advancing social justice, with deep understanding of the systemic issues impacting underrepresented communities and a passion for promoting equity and inclusive community-centered development.
- Grants Leadership Experience: Proven success in managing the full lifecycle of institutional grants, including prospecting, proposal development, compliance, and stewardship. Ability to write clearly, manage deadlines, and communicate impact to funders and stakeholders.
- Strategic Prospecting & Research Skills: Experience conducting funder landscape analysis, identifying new opportunities, and building prospect pipelines aligned with organizational strategies and program goals.
- Project & People Management: Skilled in supervising and supporting team members, managing complex timelines, and facilitating cross-departmental collaboration to meet deliverables and uphold high standards of execution.
- System Thinking and Process Improvement: Demonstrated ability to assess and improve data systems, tracking tools, and grant workflows that support sustainable growth, internal learning, and strong accountability.
- Exceptional Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate complex programmatic work into compelling narratives. Comfortable engaging with a range of stakeholders, from grassroots partners to institutional funders.
- Collaboration and Influence: A facilitative leader who brings others into shared vision and execution. Experience partnering with finance, program, and compliance staff to ensure shared ownership of goals and outcomes.
- Detail-Oriented and Deadline-Driven: Strong attention to detail in managing grant documents, compliance tasks, and data systems. Track record of meeting deadlines and juggling multiple priorities in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
- Data-Driven Impact Analysis: Skilled in synthesizing qualitative and quantitative data to assess program outcomes, inform fundraising strategy, and articulate organizational impact through reports, dashboards, and storytelling.

Key Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Bilingual/Biliterate Spanish-English required
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in grant writing and administration in nonprofit or philanthropic settings
- 1+ year of supervisory experience, ideally managing data/reporting or fundraising professionals
- Strong proficiency in grant databases, project management systems (e.g., ClickUp), and CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace; experience with Canva, FormAssembly, and Squarespace a plus
- Skilled in funder research, grant calendaring, and tracking metrics for internal and external reporting
- Ability to communicate impact through narrative, data visualization, and donor stewardship materials
- Experience aligning fundraising strategies with program design, finance, and evaluation efforts
Position Requirements
- Flexibility in your schedule to attend evening and weekend job activities as needed for donor engagement or community events\
- Ability to work onsite (in person) at our San José, CA location
- Valid California driver’s license with a clean driving record and current proof of insurance
- DOJ fingerprint and background clearance
- TB clearance and Mandated Reporter certification
- Participation in all mandatory professional development trainings and staff sessions, including Universidad Popular Mayfair (UPM)
Duties and Responsibilities (approximate % of time)
Grants Management and Administration (45%)
- Lead the full grant lifecycle including calendar management, proposal development, submission, and reporting
- Collaborate with program, finance, and compliance teams to develop compelling, accurate proposals and ensure alignment with grant deliverables
- Oversee and maintain grant tracking systems in coordination with the Impact & Reporting Coordinator, ensuring organized records, funder communications, and compliance documentation are up to date in ClickUp and Salesforce.
- Ensure timely submission of narrative and financial reports to funders
- Support site visit planning, funder briefings, and documentation for audits
- Manage grant application processes and oversee compliance tracking for SSPC grants in which SOMOS serves as the fiscal lead, ensuring timely submission of deliverables and supporting the Impact & Reporting Coordinator in coordinating with partner organizations to uphold reporting standards and funder requirements.
Prospecting and Revenue Growth (30%)
- Identify and research new institutional funders (foundation, corporate, government) aligned with SOMOS prioritie
- Develop funder profiles and recommend new funding opportunities to the Director of Resource Development
- Support strategic planning for diversified revenue streams and prospect pipelines
- Assist in managing portfolio segmentation and renewal timelines for existing grants
Team Supervision and Cross-Departmental Collaboration (10%)
- Supervise the Impact & Reporting Coordinator, providing clear goals, coaching, and professional development support
- Work with Communications & Donor Relations Manager to facilitate cross-departmental collaboration to gather impact data, stories, and outcomes that support fundraising
- Partner with finance to align proposal budgets and reporting with organizational financial systems
Donor Stewardship and Special Projects (10%)
- Lead sponsorship strategy and event execution for Gracias a la Vida; this includes cultivating sponsors, managing event timelines and logistics, coordinating with vendors and staff, and ensuring alignment with overall fundraising and communications goals as well as participate in additional major donor campaigns such as Giving Tuesday and the Winter Campaign.
- Contribute to internal RD systems building including SOP development, data integrity practices, and internal reporting
Administrative and Miscellaneous Duties (5%)
- Participate in fundraising and cultivation outreach, projects, and events, occasionally working evenings and weekends.
- Assist in preparations for external monitoring visits, reviews, audits and cross-site evaluations, participating as appropriate.
- Execute a Learning & Professional Development Plan to develop or strengthen essential skills and seek opportunities for greater and on-going learning
- Attend required Professional Development sessions with UPM (Universidad Popular Mayfair) and participate in other relevant professional development opportunities to enhance skills and stay current with best practices in the field.
- Participate in SOMOS Mayfair staff meetings and training and support major organizational campaigns and projects
- Flexibility to work on other projects related to the role, as needed.
